🇺🇸🇲🇾🇹🇭🇨🇳US PLANS AI CHIP CURBS ON MALAYSIA, THAILAND OVER CHINA CONCERN
The United States plans to impose new export restrictions on advanced artificial-intelligence chips destined for Malaysia and Thailand, extending its efforts to prevent sensitive semiconductors from reaching China through third-country channels. People familiar with the planned rule said the measure would require manufacturers such as Nvidia and AMD to obtain U.S. licences before shipping high-performance chips to the two Southeast Asian nations. Washington suspects that some of the components sent to Malaysia and Thailand are being rerouted to Chinese buyers despite existing curbs on direct sales to China.
