Stablecoin issuer Tether expanded the supply of its USDT token by roughly $2 billion within a 24-hour period, according to blockchain-tracking services such as Whale Alert. On 27 August, a transaction created 1,000,000,000 USDT worth about $1.0018 billion, followed by another 1,000,000,000 USDT issuance valued at approximately $1.0016 billion on 28 August. Both batches were minted by the Tether Treasury on the Ethereum network, marking one of the largest short-term increases in the stablecoin’s supply this year. The company has not publicly commented on the latest mints, which on-chain analysts say are typically used to meet anticipated demand from exchanges and institutional clients.
