A recent poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reveals that nearly 90% of American adults are worried about the rising cost of groceries. Approximately half of the respondents identified grocery expenses as a major source of stress, while an additional 33% described it as a minor stressor. This concern persists despite claims made earlier in the year by former President Donald Trump that grocery costs had decreased. The price increases are particularly notable for items such as poultry, ground beef, and eggs. Globally, food prices have reached a two-year high in July 2025, driven largely by record-high beef prices and rising costs of meat and edible oils, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In Mexico, the price of ham rose by 13.08% year-over-year in early July, making basic food items like sandwiches less affordable for some families.
