At the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, Mexican divers achieved remarkable success, highlighted by Osmar Olvera's historic performances. Olvera secured a silver medal in the mixed team event alongside teammates Randal Willars, Alejandra Estudillo, and Yunuen Parra, marking Mexico's first medal at the championships. He continued his strong showing by winning silver in the individual 1-meter springboard and then earned another silver in the synchronized 3-meter springboard with Juan Celaya. These accomplishments brought Olvera's total World Championship medal count to six, making him the most decorated Mexican aquatic athlete in history at just 21 years old. Additionally, the Mexican duo Gabriela Agúndez and Alejandra Estudillo won silver in the women's synchronized 10-meter platform event. The young Mexican twins Mía and Lía Cueva Lobato, both 14 years old, captured a bronze medal in the synchronized 3-meter springboard, marking their first World Championship podium finish. The culmination of Mexico's diving success came when Osmar Olvera won the gold medal in the men's 3-meter springboard, scoring 529.55 points and ending the longstanding dominance of Chinese divers, including Olympic champions Cao Yuan and Wang Zongyuan. Olvera's victory was celebrated nationally, with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum publicly congratulating him. Olvera expressed pride in breaking the Chinese dominance and ambition to continue his success in diving.
