Mexican archer Matías Grande captured the men’s recurve title at the Madrid stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, sweeping France’s Baptiste Addis 6–0 in the final. The 21-year-old opened with a perfect 30-point set and never allowed the world No. 9 to score a set point, sealing Mexico’s dominance at the event. Grande’s victory is his third podium of the 2025 circuit, after mixed-team gold in Auburndale and individual silver in Shanghai, and secures his berth in the season-ending World Cup Final in Nanjing this October. En route to the Madrid crown he ousted U.S. world No. 1 Brady Ellison and South Korea’s Je Deok Kim, underscoring his emergence as a leading contender for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Mexico now counts six gold medals across the four 2025 World Cup stages, consolidating its position as the second-best nation in the series heading into the Nanjing finale.
