Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she will nominate Néstor Vargas Solano, a former legal adviser to the Mexico City government, as the federal executive’s representative on the newly created Órgano de Administración Judicial (OAJ). The OAJ was established under the 2024 judicial reform to assume the administrative and disciplinary functions previously handled by the Consejo de la Judicatura Federal. It will also set austerity guidelines for the judiciary. Under the statute, the body will be composed of five members who serve six-year terms: one chosen by the president, three by the Supreme Court and one by the Senate. Vargas would fill the presidency’s sole seat if approved.
