Tropical Storm Ivo has formed off the southern coast of Mexico and is expected to bring heavy rainfall and high surf along the southwestern Pacific coast. The storm is moving parallel to the Mexican coast, affecting states including Sinaloa, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca with intense rains. It is currently located near Guerrero and advancing southwest of Playa Pérula, Jalisco, and southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. Authorities have issued alerts, including a Red Alert in Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City, with additional areas under Yellow Alert due to forecasts of continued heavy rains. The National Meteorological Service forecasts that Ivo will intensify into a Category 1 hurricane by Friday, August 8, when it is expected to be about 220 kilometers south of Cabo San Lucas. The storm has already caused flooding and traffic disruptions in Mexico City and remains a threat to the region as it moves over the Pacific Ocean.
