Heavy rains caused flash flooding in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico on July 15, 2025, resulting in extensive damage and casualties. The flooding led to the overflow of a canal, damaging more than 140 homes and over 30 vehicles. At least 14 people were injured, and one infant died as a result of the storm. Clean-up efforts began immediately following the incident. The intense rainfall also affected other regions, including Colima, where a strong storm on July 26 caused damage in five municipalities and resulted in one fatality. Meteorological authorities have issued warnings about continued heavy rains across Mexico due to Tropical Wave 16 and the Mexican monsoon, forecasting intense precipitation, hail, and strong winds in 18 states. Similar weather patterns are expected to bring increased cloudiness, rain, and electrical activity to Guatemala. Residents are advised to take precautions amid these ongoing weather disturbances.
