On August 20, 2025, 19 trucks carrying 355 tons of food and shelter materials from the United Arab Emirates crossed the Rafah border in Egypt en route to the Karam Abu Salem crossing, preparing to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. This movement comes amid ongoing challenges in delivering aid to Gaza, where hundreds of trucks have been delayed for days or weeks at the Rafah crossing due to pending Israeli approval, causing cargo to deteriorate under extreme heat. Additionally, a ship carrying 1,200 tons of food supplies from Cyprus is approaching the Israeli port of Ashdod as part of renewed efforts to address the worsening food security crisis in Gaza. Reports indicate that Hamas militants have been accused of diverting aid and contributing to the starvation of Gaza's population. Civilians in Gaza face long waits and harsh conditions at aid centers, with concerns raised about the use of humanitarian needs as psychological pressure. The international community continues to call for safe and effective humanitarian access to the region.
