27 Countries Including France, UK Urge Israel to Allow Foreign Media in Gaza After Journalist Anas al-Sharif’s Death; 17 US Senators Demand Accountability
A coalition of 27 countries, including France and the United Kingdom, has issued a joint statement urging Israel to immediately permit foreign media access to Gaza and to halt actions that endanger journalists. This call follows the recent Israeli strike that killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif and three others in the besieged territory. In the United States, a group of 17 senators, led by a Jewish senator, has formally requested Secretary of State Marco Rubio to hold Israel accountable for what they describe as systematic targeting of journalists in Gaza. The senators emphasized the need for Israel to protect reporters and allow greater media access to the enclave amid ongoing violence.
