Recent daily death tolls have varied, with 11 deaths reported on August 16, seven on August 17, seven on August 18, and three on August 19 and 20. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) chief Philippe Lazzarini highlighted that in Gaza City, nearly one in three children is malnourished as Israeli forces prepare for a major assault. The UN has also warned that child malnutrition in Gaza has tripled since March, signaling a worsening humanitarian crisis.
