Two senior Christian leaders from Jerusalem, Latin Catholic Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa and Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III, visited Gaza following an Israeli shelling that targeted the Holy Family Catholic Church, the only Catholic church in the Palestinian territory. The attack resulted in the deaths of three Christians and drew international condemnation. The church leaders traveled to Gaza as part of a rare solidarity mission to meet with the local Christian community and assess the damage. They called on global leaders to impose an immediate ceasefire in the region.
