The Israel Defense Forces said three members of its 52nd Armored Corps Battalion, part of the 401st Brigade, were killed on 14 July during combat in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip. An additional officer was seriously wounded in the same incident. The fallen soldiers were identified as Staff Sergeant Shoham Menahem, 21, from the village of Yardena; Sergeant Shlomo Yakir Shrem, 20, from Efrat; and Sergeant Yuliy Faktor, 19, from Rishon LeZion. According to the military, they died when their tank was hit by an explosion during ground operations against militant forces in the area. The latest casualties underscore the persistent risks facing Israeli forces as they continue operations in Gaza nearly nine months into the conflict. The IDF said the families of the soldiers have been notified and that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
