United Nations independent human rights experts said Thursday they are "alarmed" by reports that Palestinians searching for food at distribution points operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation have been subjected to enforced disappearance. The experts urged Israel, as the occupying power, to end what they called a "heinous crime" and to clarify the fate and whereabouts of the missing people. The UN specialists said many of those who vanished were already facing acute hunger, warning that forced disappearance in such circumstances could constitute a crime against humanity under international law. Gaza’s Government Media Office, commenting on broader displacement orders, said areas promoted by Israel as safe zones are largely agricultural or buffer regions that remain vulnerable to shelling. It denounced the ongoing relocations as forced transfer and appealed for immediate international intervention. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation responded that it has found no evidence of enforced disappearances at its aid sites, underscoring the conflicting claims as humanitarian conditions in the enclave continue to deteriorate.
