The Colorado Rockies edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 4–3 on Monday night in Denver, ending a 10-game losing streak to their National League West rivals. Rookie infielder Warming Bernabel delivered the decisive blow, lining a single up the middle off reliever Justin Wrobleski to drive in Ezequiel Tovar from second base in the bottom of the ninth. Tovar had tied the game earlier with a solo home run in the seventh inning after Ryan Ritter’s two-run single erased an initial Dodgers lead. Rockies starter Kyle Freeland exited in the fifth with a blister, while Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed three runs over seven innings and struck out six in a no-decision. Victor Vodnik retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to earn the win. The victory extends Colorado’s modest winning streak to four games and lifts its record to 36-89. The Dodgers, now 6-1 against the Rockies this season, will send right-hander Emmet Sheehan to the mound on Tuesday as they try to clinch the season series for an eighth straight year.
