The Los Angeles Angels edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 7–6 in 10 innings in Anaheim on Tuesday, remaining undefeated against their crosstown rivals at 5-0 this season. Jo Adell’s walk-off single scored automatic runner Taylor Ward after Nolan Schanuel’s sacrifice fly had erased a one-run deficit in the ninth. The late comeback nullified a dramatic swing by Shohei Ohtani, who homered on the first pitch of the ninth off Angels closer and former Dodger Kenley Jansen. The solo shot—Ohtani’s 43rd of the season and his fourth in as many games—had briefly given the Dodgers a 6–5 lead and broke Jansen’s run of 21 consecutive scoreless appearances. Ohtani’s eventful night also featured a rare triple play in the sixth inning. With two on and none out, shortstop Zach Neto snared Ohtani’s line drive, stepped on second and fired to first, completing the Angels’ first triple play since August 2023 and only the third recorded across Major League Baseball this year. The defeat extended the Dodgers’ losing streak to three games and dropped them into a tie with the surging San Diego Padres atop the National League West. The Angels, meanwhile, have won five straight meetings with the Dodgers. Ohtani is slated to start Wednesday as the Dodgers try to avoid a sweep.
