#Braves lose 5-1 to the Angels, their sixth loss in eight games. Bryce Elder was bad again, and the Braves didn’t advance a runner past first base until Jurickson Profar's ninth-inning homer, his second in as many games since returning from a PED suspension. But it didn't rain.
Jurickson's Profar's solo home run makes it 5-1 Angels and prevents the Braves from being shutout for the fourth time in seven games
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar homered in each of his first two games after serving an 80-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s performance-enhancing drug policy. The 32-year-old switch-hitter returned on 3 July, apologized to teammates and fans, and went 2-for-4 with a seventh-inning solo shot that helped Atlanta defeat the Los Angeles Angels 8–3 at Truist Park. Profar followed up one night later with a ninth-inning line-drive homer that provided the Braves’ only run in a 5–1 loss to the Angels. The back-to-back blasts offered a rare bright spot for a club that has dropped six of its last eight games and failed to advance a runner past first base until Profar’s swing in the series finale. Angels rookie Zach Neto had earlier put his club ahead with a solo homer, and Nolan Schanuel added insurance as Bryce Elder absorbed the loss for Atlanta. The former All-Star forfeited roughly $5.8 million of his $12 million 2025 salary during the unpaid ban and, under league rules, remains ineligible for postseason play this year. Manager Brian Snitker said the club welcomes the extra switch-hitting depth as it tries to climb from fourth place in the National League East.
