Seiya Suzuki continued his breakout season by launching his 25th home run and driving in two runs as the Chicago Cubs blanked the St. Louis Cardinals 11–0 on Sunday Night Baseball at Wrigley Field. The 30-year-old designated hitter lifted his major-league-leading RBI total to 77 and stretched his hitting streak to six games. Suzuki is the first Cub to record at least 25 homers and 75 RBIs before the All-Star break since Sammy Sosa in 2001, yet he was left off the National League roster for next week’s Midsummer Classic. Left-hander Matthew Boyd worked five scoreless innings for his ninth win, while Kyle Tucker and rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong also drove in runs to help Chicago cruise past its division rival. The victory strengthened the Cubs’ position in the NL Central as the Cardinals fell further off the pace.
