The Cleveland Guardians have re-signed left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard to a minor-league contract and immediately selected his contract to the major-league roster while the club is in Houston. Allard, who had elected free agency the previous day, joins the active group as part of the taxi squad after serving as one of the mainstays of Cleveland’s shutdown bullpen last season. To make room, the Guardians optioned fellow left-hander Tim Herrin to Triple-A Columbus. Herrin had been working out of the big-league bullpen but retains minor-league options, allowing the club to shuffle its relief corps without a waiver transaction.
