Netflix has set a staggered release plan for Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited adaptation of “Frankenstein,” beginning with a limited U.S. theatrical run on 17 October 2025 before the film reaches the streaming platform on 7 November. The gothic drama stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi as the Creature, and features Mia Goth and two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz in supporting roles. The picture will first screen on the autumn festival circuit, premiering out of competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and then playing at the 50th Toronto festival. The release pattern echoes Netflix’s recent strategy of giving select prestige titles a brief cinema window to qualify for awards and generate word-of-mouth ahead of their online debut. “Frankenstein” is del Toro’s first live-action feature since his 2022 Oscar-winning animated “Pinocchio.”
