Netflix has released the first teaser trailer and poster for “Ballad of a Small Player,” the psychological thriller directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger and led by Colin Farrell. Adapted from Lawrence Osborne’s 2014 novel, the film follows a debt-ridden gambler navigating Macau’s neon casino underworld. The cast includes Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, Alex Jennings and Tilda Swinton. Berger reunites with his Oscar-winning collaborators from “All Quiet on the Western Front,” cinematographer James Friend and composer Volker Bertelmann, with producing support from Mike Goodridge and Matthew James Wilkinson. The picture will open in select U.S. cinemas on 15 October and in the U.K. and Ireland on 17 October before streaming worldwide on Netflix from 29 October.
