Universal has unveiled the first character posters for “Wicked: For Good,” the two-part film adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical. The images, released on 6 Aug 2025, feature Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and mark the start of the studio’s fall marketing push. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the movie is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on 21 Nov 2025. Grande and Erivo reprise their stage roles in a cast that also includes Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, according to earlier studio announcements. Awards watchers at industry outlet Next Best Picture said they currently expect the film to contend for Best Picture as well as acting nominations for Erivo and Grande, underscoring the industry’s high expectations for the $100-million production.
