'Superman' is soaring into homes with a digital release. Here's when. https://t.co/dtgDILZtfV
Warner Bros. Pictures said its summer tent-pole “Superman” will be available for digital purchase and rental on 15 August, only 35 days after the film’s 11 July theatrical debut. The accelerated rollout is among the shortest premium-video-on-demand windows yet for a major studio release. Written and directed by DC Studios co-chief James Gunn, the $225 million picture has generated roughly $580 million worldwide, including about $330 million in the United States. The studio expects the film to finish its theatrical run between $620 million and $640 million, making it the highest-grossing solo Superman movie domestically and the top-earning superhero title of 2025 so far. The digital edition—priced at about $30 on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home—will feature an hour-long making-of documentary, additional featurettes, a commentary track from Gunn, a gag reel and deleted scenes. A 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD version is scheduled for 23 September. By moving the blockbuster to home viewing while it is still in cinemas, Warner Bros. joins a growing list of studios shrinking theatrical exclusivity to capture at-home demand once box-office momentum cools, particularly as the summer season winds down and school calendars resume.
