Billboard released its ranking of the 21st century’s most successful producers on the Hot 100 singles chart, placing Swedish hit-maker Max Martin at No. 1. Martin, whose credits range from Britney Spears’ “...Baby One More Time” to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” tops a list that measures producers by the cumulative chart performance of songs they have shepherded since 2000. Dr. Luke lands in second place, followed by the Norwegian duo Stargate, Canadian producer Cirkut and Martin’s frequent collaborator Shellback rounding out the top five. Beyoncé is the highest-ranked artist-producer at No. 6, ahead of Jack Antonoff, Benny Blanco, Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland. The remainder of the top 15 features Louis Bell, Danja, Taylor Swift, Ye and Mariah Carey, underscoring the growing presence of artist-producers in pop and hip-hop. Billboard’s periodic ranking highlights the producers whose work has most consistently resonated with U.S. audiences over the past quarter-century.
