Data company Luminate has published its latest global “export” chart, measuring which performers generate the largest share of their streaming and sales outside their home markets. The report, dated 16 July, places Toronto-born singer-songwriter The Weeknd as Canada’s most popular cultural export worldwide. The list highlights leading artists from other major music-producing territories as well. Taylor Swift tops the United States, Coldplay leads the United Kingdom and Avicii remains Sweden’s strongest international draw. Further down the ranking, South Korea’s Rosé, Germany’s Rammstein, France’s David Guetta, Puerto Rico’s Bad Bunny, Australia’s Sia and Brazil’s Alok each dominate their respective countries’ outbound performance metrics. Luminate compiles the annual snapshot from global on-demand streams, digital and physical sales and airplay logged outside an artist’s domestic market, offering a gauge of cross-border appeal in the increasingly international streaming economy.
