Authorities have recovered the body of 22-year-old Ella Cahill, a Beaumont native who disappeared during last weekend’s catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country. Family attorney Scott Renick confirmed the discovery, and Cahill’s relatives thanked rescuers while requesting privacy. Search crews are still looking for Cahill’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Aidan Heartfield, the last unaccounted-for member of a group of four friends swept away while staying near the Guadalupe River. The bodies of the other two friends, Joyce Badon and Reese Manchaca, were found earlier in the week. Kerr County officials say the flash floods that began Friday have killed more than 100 people and led to the rescue of over 850 others. Sheriff Larry L. Leitha said operations will continue “until every single person is found,” though high water levels are hampering ground efforts and forcing greater reliance on helicopters.
