From late July 30 through August 1, 2025, northwestern Oklahoma and parts of northern Texas experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms associated with a cold front. Initial storms in northwestern Oklahoma were capable of producing strong winds, heavy rainfall, and cloud-to-ground lightning. These conditions persisted overnight and into the morning of August 1, with showers gradually dissipating but potential redevelopment expected in southern Oklahoma and northern Texas. By August 1, scattered light showers and storms continued across southern and central Oklahoma and northern Texas, with heavy rain and lightning noted in western North Texas. The National Weather Service in Norman issued flood advisories for Baylor, Wilbarger, and Wichita counties in Texas, with flooding concerns particularly near Vernon, Texas, and along the U.S. Highway 82 corridor northeast of Seymour. A rapid burst of heavy rain around Wichita Falls prompted warnings for potential flooding and advisories urging caution. The probability of weather-related violations was reported at 60% on August 1.
