A line of severe thunderstorms moved through Minnesota on the evening of July 28 and early July 29, producing wind gusts up to 70 mph and isolated large hail. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for multiple locations including Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Bloomington, New Prague, Belle Plaine, Lonsdale, Faribault, Waseca, Le Center, Northfield, Red Wing, Cannon Falls, Owatonna, Blooming Prairie, and Medford, with warnings extending until as late as 11:15 PM CDT. The storms caused reports of downed trees from Mankato to the Twin Cities metro area. In Oklahoma and northern Texas, scattered showers and thunderstorms continued through late July 30 into August 2, with hazards including heavy rainfall, gusty winds up to 50 mph, and cloud-to-ground lightning. Thunderstorms tracked eastward along the Red River, causing localized flooding concerns, particularly near Wichita Falls and southeast Oklahoma. Severe risks with damaging wind gusts and large hail were forecast for western Oklahoma and western north Texas late Saturday into Sunday. Additionally, a tornado warning was issued for Cheyenne and Orchard Valley, Wyoming, until 6:15 PM MDT on August 1.
