Two brush fires that ignited within a mile of each other near Riverdale Drive and Bradford Road in Aguanga at about 12:35 p.m. Wednesday merged into the Dale Fire, which had grown to roughly 330 acres by late afternoon, according to Cal Fire’s Riverside County unit. The blaze, driven by dry vegetation and rapid winds, destroyed at least two structures—believed to be vacant outbuildings—and damaged up to three more. Authorities issued evacuation orders for several rural zones southeast of Lake Riverside Estates and placed the Cahuilla Creek Motocross facility, the Cahuilla Casino Hotel and surrounding reservation lands under evacuation warnings. Both sides of Highway 371 were closed for about seven miles, while seven air tankers and three helicopters joined ground crews to slow the fire’s advance. The cause of the twin ignitions remains under investigation; no injuries had been reported as of Wednesday evening.
