The NBA confirmed that the Las Vegas Summer League will open on 10 July with a marquee matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, pitting 2025 No. 1 overall draft pick Cooper Flagg against 2024 second-round selection Bronny James. Tip-off at the Thomas & Mack Center is set for 7 p.m. local time and will air on ESPN. Flagg will be making his first appearance in a Mavericks uniform after a standout freshman season at Duke, where the 6-foot-10 forward averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks. James, coming off his rookie campaign with the Lakers, headlines Los Angeles’s summer roster as he seeks to build on limited minutes logged last season. The Flagg-James meeting opens an ESPN double-header that will also feature No. 2 pick Dylan Harper and the San Antonio Spurs facing No. 3 pick VJ Edgecombe and the Philadelphia 76ers. The Las Vegas tournament runs 11 days and follows earlier Summer League action that starts on 5 July in Sacramento’s California Classic and the Salt Lake City event.
