The Associated Press unveiled its 27-man preseason All-America football team for 2025, with No. 1-ranked Texas and No. 2 Penn State each placing three players on the first team. The Longhorns are represented at every level of the defense by edge rusher Colin Simmons, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and safety Michael Taaffe. Penn State’s selections span the offense and defensive front: running back Nicholas Singleton, guard Olaivavega Ioane and tackle Zane Durant. Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, coming off a 3,639-yard, 39-touchdown season, was the media panel’s overwhelming choice behind center, while Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Florida center Jake Slaughter return as repeat first-teamers. Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Alabama and Pittsburgh each landed two players on the top unit. The Southeastern Conference accounted for 12 of the 27 first-team selections, followed by the Big Ten with seven, the ACC with four and the Big 12 with two. This year’s preseason honor roll coincides with the 100th anniversary of the AP All-America team; the end-of-season squad will be announced in December.
