The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed running back Jeff Wilson Jr. to a one-year deal, his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Shawn O’Dare said on Sunday. The 29-year-old returns as the club copes with a string of training-camp injuries that have sidelined Isaac Guerendo and rookie Jordan James. Wilson is expected to slot in behind All-Pro starter Christian McCaffrey and compete with veterans Patrick Taylor Jr. and Ameer Abdullah for reserve snaps. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2018, Wilson rushed for 1,733 yards and tallied 19 total touchdowns in 45 games for San Francisco before a mid-season trade to the Miami Dolphins in 2022. His familiarity with head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system provides the 49ers with immediate depth as they prepare for the upcoming season.
