He was declared questionable and did not return. Safety Marques Sigle, the fastest player in this year’s rookie safety class and already a starter, followed Bethune to the locker room in the third quarter with a knee injury. Sigle had logged a team-high seven tackles before being ruled out. The 49ers, who overhauled their roster in the offseason, had been encouraged by early contributions from Bethune and Sigle.
