Shanahan: Brandon Aiyuk (knee) on track to return around Week 6.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is expected to be ready for the club’s Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 12 as he continues rehabilitation from the ACL tear that ended his 2024 season. Shanahan indicated the 49ers plan to place Aiyuk on the preseason physically-unable-to-perform list, which would sideline him for at least the first four games. The team’s Week 5 contest is a Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams, giving Aiyuk a short week that makes Week 6 the more realistic target. Linebacker Curtis Robinson, also recovering from injury, is expected to join Aiyuk on the PUP list with a similar return timetable.
