Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman died on Thursday at the age of 38, his agent Sean Stellato confirmed. Braman had been receiving treatment this year for a rare and aggressive form of cancer first diagnosed in February. The Spokane, Washington, native underwent several surgeries and CAR-T cell therapy at a Seattle hospital but the disease spread rapidly around his vital organs, according to details shared on a GoFundMe page created to offset medical costs. The campaign collected more than $88,000, including a $10,000 contribution from former teammate J.J. Watt. Signed by Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2011, Braman played seven NFL seasons, appearing in 97 regular-season games and earning a reputation as a special-teams standout. His final professional appearance came in the Eagles’ 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, where he contributed on special teams after rejoining Philadelphia for the 2017 postseason. Braman is survived by two daughters, ages 11 and 8. The Eagles praised him as “a loyal teammate and a valuable member of our championship team,” while the Texans said they were “deeply saddened” by his passing.
