Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, entering his 21st and probably final NFL season, said he is still searching for a comfortable helmet after the league banned his longtime Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD under updated safety standards. The 41-year-old has been practicing in a Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II but complained the replacement "looks like a damn spaceship" and said the facemask does not fit properly. Rodgers and the club are working with equipment staff to identify an approved alternative before the regular-season opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 7. Rodgers, who signed a one-year, $13.65 million deal with Pittsburgh in June, did not play in the Steelers’ preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead, he took to the coaches’ headset to provide what he called comic relief for younger quarterbacks. After the contest he quipped that, with so few contemporaries left in the league, he found himself "doing the Joe Biden"—wandering the field looking for familiar faces—before joining veterans Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt. The four-time MVP caused a brief scare on Aug. 12 when he was stepped on during practice, but head coach Mike Tomlin said the right shin and calf knock was "nothing of any significance" and Rodgers completed the session. The Steelers hold joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week ahead of their second preseason game on Saturday.

There was concern Aaron Rodgers injured his leg in practice Tuesday but not to worry, the quarterback was all smiles -- probably because he's fine. Or perhaps because he took a not-so-subtle swipe at Joe Biden and enjoyed it https://t.co/mJEB18vlFa
