Pakistan and the United States concluded a round of the Pakistan–U.S. Counterterrorism Dialogue in Islamabad on 12 August. In a joint statement, both sides “underscored the critical importance of developing effective approaches” to threats posed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, ISIS-Khorasan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The United States applauded what it called Pakistan’s “continued successes” in containing terrorist entities and reaffirmed its commitment to support Islamabad in countering terrorism “in all its forms and manifestations.” The talks aimed to advance shared security interests and deepen operational cooperation against militant groups operating in the region.
