Benny Glaser continues to lead the 2025 World Series of Poker Player of the Year standings, but his margin has narrowed to fewer than 40 points after a late-June surge by fellow American Scott Bohlman. Glaser’s three bracelet victories should have given him a commanding advantage, yet Bohlman’s consistency—eleven cashes, three final-table appearances and a bracelet of his own—has turned the race into one of the closest in recent memory. The two front-runners remain alive in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, an event that could swing the leaderboard once final payouts are posted. Glaser and Bohlman each carry workable stacks into the late stages of the tournament, where a top-five finish would be enough for Bohlman to seize the lead. Several other contenders have also tightened the field. Slovenia’s Blaz Zerjav climbed the rankings after capturing his second bracelet of the summer, while three-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman entered the top ten. China’s Yilong Wang, listed in the series as Chunlan Yi, vaulted into the same tier with a victory in Event 68, the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em. Away from the POY chase, Chris Vitch bagged the chip lead in Event 76, the $2,500 Mixed Big Bet, with 508,500 chips placing Shaun Deeb in second. Results from that tournament and the remaining bracelet schedule will add further volatility to a points race that is unlikely to be decided until the final week of the series.
