The United States has announced a new series of sanctions targeting Russian entities and individuals, aiming to counteract disinformation campaigns and financial maneuvers supporting Russia's military actions against Ukraine. The sanctions specifically target companies involved in spreading 'fake news' and a network of financial institutions and fintech firms accused of facilitating sanctions evasion. In total, 20 individuals and entities, including 13 fintech firms and two individuals directly linked to Russia, have been sanctioned. These measures are part of a broader effort to restrict Russia's access to the international financial system and to hold accountable those aiding in its war efforts.
