Reigning Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen said Sergio “Checo” Pérez would be a strong hire for Cadillac as the U.S. marque prepares to join the grid in 2026. Speaking after securing pole position for Sunday’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Red Bull driver told reporters that Pérez “has always been very strong” and, if motivated, could be an ideal addition for a new team. Cadillac, which is set to become the sport’s 11th constructor, has not announced its driver line-up for the debut campaign. The seats are viewed as some of the most coveted in the forthcoming driver market reshuffle. Pérez, released by Red Bull at the end of 2024, has said he is weighing several proposals and will return only for a project he deems competitive. The Mexican has also held discussions with Alpine but indicated he will take his time before making a decision.
