Romania is experiencing an intense heatwave with multiple weather alerts issued by the National Meteorological Administration (ANM). Red, orange, and yellow heat warnings have been declared across the country, with temperatures expected to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius. The red heat code applies to 15 counties in the Oltenia and Muntenia regions, including the capital Bucharest, where tropical nights and maximum daytime temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius are forecasted. Specifically, Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, and Teleorman counties are under a red heat warning for Sunday and Monday. Alongside the heatwave, violent storms with heavy rainfall reaching up to 50 liters per square meter and electrical discharges have been forecasted, prompting further meteorological alerts. Authorities have also issued Ro-Alert messages in Bucharest to warn residents about the extreme heat conditions. The heatwave and storm warnings are expected to persist over the coming days, causing high thermal discomfort across the affected regions.
