Nvidia Reportedly Delays Rubin AI Chip to Late 2025 to Compete With AMD’s MI450; Nvidia Says Chip Is On Track
Nvidia Corp. has reportedly delayed the launch of its next-generation Rubin AI chips to enhance specifications and performance in order to better compete with Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s upcoming MI450 GPU. Industry sources, including Fubon and Edgewater, indicated that the delay could push Rubin's tape-out to late September or October 2025, potentially limiting volume in 2026. The delay has been attributed to supply chain and technical complexities. However, Nvidia later issued statements asserting that the Rubin GPU chip remains on track, countering earlier reports of postponement. Market analysts noted that the delay rumors may be premature or unfounded, emphasizing Nvidia's ongoing efforts to maintain competitiveness in the AI chip sector amid a direct rivalry with AMD's MI450.
