Zelenskyy Says Meeting Putin Key Amid Diplomatic Stalemate as Russia Dismisses Talks, War End Seen Through Diplomacy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated that a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is the most effective way to advance peace negotiations amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized this position multiple times, including on Ukraine's Independence Day, highlighting the diplomatic stalemate and the need for dialogue to end the war. Despite these calls, the Russian leadership has dismissed the possibility of an immediate meeting. Zelenskyy also acknowledged the military realities, stating that Russia lacks the strength to capture all of Ukraine, while Ukraine cannot reclaim all occupied territories by force. He described diplomacy as the only viable and fastest path to resolve the conflict. Additionally, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that the war will end eventually, asserting that Putin has no alternative options.
