Google has broadened its AI-powered productivity tool NotebookLM, adding support for 80 languages to the recently introduced “Video Overviews” feature. The capability, which turns user-supplied notes, PDFs and images into short video presentations, had been limited to English since its July debut. The company said the multilingual rollout, which began on 25 August, will reach all users worldwide over the coming week. The update also improves “Audio Overviews”, delivering more detailed summaries in non-English languages and giving users a choice between long- and short-form audio. By extending both video and audio functions beyond English, Google aims to make NotebookLM more useful for students, researchers and professionals outside its home market. Separately, leaked images reported by Android Headlines and other outlets suggest Google is readying a refresh of its Nest smart-home range. The next-generation indoor and outdoor cameras and a third-generation doorbell are said to capture 2K HDR video, offer up to 6× zoom and store up to an hour of footage locally during internet outages. The devices, expected in Snow, Berry, Hazel and Linen colour options, would run Gemini AI features such as daily event summaries. Google is also reportedly preparing to rename its Nest Aware subscription “Google Home Premium,” signalling a broader push to fold generative-AI services into its hardware ecosystem.
