AC Milan and Mexico forward Santiago Giménez said he is actively encouraging Serbian striker Luka Jović to sign with Liga MX side Cruz Azul before the Apertura 2025 season. Giménez, who shared the Milan dressing room with Jović for six months, told Mexican media he has given the 27-year-old "pure praise" for the club where Giménez began his career, calling it “a wonderful family.” According to Giménez, Cruz Azul sporting director Iván Alonso first contacted Jović in April and has been sending the player daily messages and promotional videos about the team. Giménez described Jović as a "killer" who shields the ball well and predicted the move would intensify competition in the attack under new coach Nicolás Larcamón. In the same interview, the 24-year-old Giménez said that if he could bring one player to Milan it would be Mexican defender Johan Vásquez, and offered to help Copa Oro revelation Gilberto Mora secure a future transfer to Europe. Giménez added that he plans to stay with Milan for the coming season as he prepares for the 2026 World Cup.
