Cruz Azul has completed the signing of Mexican midfielder Jeremy Márquez, presenting the 25-year-old as its first reinforcement for the Liga MX Apertura 2025 campaign. Local media put the fee between US$4 million and US$5 million, though the club did not disclose financial details. Márquez joins on a contract that is expected to run through 2029. The Guadalajara-born player leaves Atlas after five years, a stint that included back-to-back league titles in 2021-22. Last season he made 33 appearances, scoring five goals and supplying two assists. At his unveiling, Márquez said the move offers a larger platform to fight for a place in Mexico’s 2026 World Cup squad, adding that his immediate goal is “to win the title” with Cruz Azul. Márquez will work under new coach Nicolás Larcamón, whose side opens the Apertura at home to Mazatlán on 12 July. Cruz Azul secured the Concacaf Champions Cup earlier this year and holds a berth in the 2029 Club World Cup, heightening expectations for the incoming midfielder’s impact.
