FIFA staged its first-ever official halftime show during the 2025 Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, extending the Super Bowl-style format to world football. The 15-minute spectacle was mounted on a purpose-built stage in the upper stands to avoid damaging the pitch. Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin opened with “Mi Gente” and “Reggaetón”, followed by Nigerian singer Tems with “Love Me JeJe” and U.S. rapper-singer Doja Cat with “Woman”. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin then appeared unannounced, duetting “A Sky Full of Stars” with Australian artist Emmanuel Kelly as all performers re-joined the stage for the finale. The show was produced with advocacy group Global Citizen, which said one dollar from every tournament ticket will support the new FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The partners aim to raise US$100 million to expand access to schooling worldwide. Pre-match ceremonies were also heavy on pop, with Robbie Williams and Italian singer Laura Pausini debuting “Desire”, the competition’s official anthem. On the pitch, Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 to lift the revamped Club World Cup trophy.
