Soccer star Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, were spotlighted by Coldplay’s “kiss cam” during the British band’s concert at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Sunday, 27 July. The sold-out show drew roughly 60,000 spectators as Coldplay wrapped up the U.S. leg of its “Music of the Spheres” world tour. Frontman Chris Martin serenaded the couple from the stage—calling Messi “the No. 1 sportsperson of all time”—while the crowd chanted the Inter Miami forward’s name. Video of the interchange circulated widely on social media within hours of the performance. Coldplay has kept the light-hearted segment in its shows even after a 16 July appearance at Gillette Stadium went viral for exposing an embrace between Astronomer chief executive Andy Byron and the company’s head of human resources, Kristin Cabot. The clip led to both executives resigning earlier this month. Following the Miami concert, the band is scheduled to resume its tour in the United Kingdom in mid-August, including a 10-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium.
