FIFA has appointed Polish referee Szymon Marciniak to oversee Wednesday’s 2025 Club World Cup semi-final between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium in the New York metropolitan area. The 44-year-old official is widely regarded as one of the game’s leading referees, having taken charge of the 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and France. Marciniak is familiar with both clubs. He has already refereed PSG twice this season in the Champions League group stage—a 2-1 loss to Atlético Madrid and a 4-2 victory over Manchester City—and handled Real Madrid’s 1-0 win against Juventus in the Club World Cup round of 16. Wednesday’s match is scheduled for 21:00 in Paris (15:00 local time). The winner will advance to Sunday’s final against the victor of the Fluminense-Chelsea semi-final.
