Liverpool have rejected Bayern Munich’s first formal offer for Luis Diaz, turning down a proposal worth €67.5 million (£58.6 million) submitted on 15 July, according to reports from The Athletic, Sky Sports and other outlets. The decision extends the stance the Premier League champions took in early July, when Bayern sporting director Max Eberl was told during informal talks that the 28-year-old Colombia international was not available; Barcelona received the same response when it enquired last month. Liverpool value Diaz at more than €100 million and have yet to open contract-extension discussions even though the winger has two years left on his deal and is understood to be willing to leave. Club officials consider him integral to manager Arne Slot’s plans after last season’s title-winning campaign. Signed from Porto in January 2022 for an initial £37.5 million, Diaz has scored 41 goals in 148 matches for Liverpool, including 13 in the league last term. Bayern, seeking attacking reinforcements after player departures and Jamal Musiala’s long-term injury, are expected to weigh a higher bid in the coming weeks.
